:: ROCK, ROCK, ROCK MY VOTE! ::

Less than an hour from now and the voting precincts will open to usher the millions of Filipinos who'll decide who'll their next leaders will be - from President up to the eight (8) councilors. Coming from a heavy politicized clan here in Cabuyao, Laguna, I've been exposed to so many political norms, campaigns, election strategies all my life. My lolo (mum's dad) was Vice Mayor during his time, though I believe that the fanfare started during my great-Grandfather's post as Cabeza. My lolo became a sensational politico because he was killed while serving in office. It was an assasination for some land deals gone haywire that is not even politics-related (but that is an entirely different topic fo posting).

The political tradition lives on when mom's older brother pursued a career in public office - from Councilor to Vice Mayor then back to Councilor. Another brother went joined him and some nephews eventually followed suit...you get the picture. Our clan is so-so huge and so into politics that majority of the candidates listed in the current Official Candidates List that I chanced upon at the Comelec site last night has similar surnames (or middle names) as mine. As I write these thoughts, I haven't even filled-up my "to vote list". Local politics is really different! Don't expect that machinery, wits or platform of governance (or sometimes even money) will work here. It's the kamag-anak factor that does the trick. Sad but true.

Inter-marriages in political families is also quite popular. Mom's sister married the son of the then governor of Laguna (who now has a son who's also running for the same post). Even I was not spared from all of these since my relatives are currently and constantly "teasing" me to two guys who are both running for Councilors who happened to be my classmates in Kindergarten (though they kep on texting me these days with those flowery forwarded messages)! Geeesh! Both guys are "in-training" for greater political heights in the future, since like moi, they also came from a crazy clan who are all going ga-ga over politics.

Enough of that. On the National level...it's all about CONVICTION for me. I will definitely vote for Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo despite and inspite of everything. I cannot write here all my reasons WHY I will vote for her (since this is a highly debatable issue, but this is MY BLOG anyway, I can write all I want) GMA really STRUCK me ever since. I've been with her all THE time. I voted for her when she ran for Senate and VP and I was all-out for her during the "party" that was EDSA2. Is it the Assumptionist in me? The woman in me? The high-temperament that we both have? I dunno exactly and I really can't tell. I'm voting for her because I BELIEVE. I'm voting for her JUST BECAUSE....

GMA u ROCK!

THE REASON
by Hoobastank

i'm not a perfect person, there's many things i wish i didn't do
but i continue learning. i never meant to do those things to you
and so i have to say before i go, that i just want you to know

i found a reason for me, to change who i used to be
a reason to start over new, and the reason is you

i'm sorry that i hurt you, its something i must live with everyday
and all the pain i put you through, i wish that i could take it all away
and be the one who catches all your tears, thats why i need you to hear

i found a reason for me, to change who i used to be.
a reason to start over new, and the reason is you.

i'm not a perfect person, i never meant to do those things to you
and so i have to say before i go, that i just want you to know

i've found a reason for me, to change who i used to be
a reason to start over new, and the reason is you
i've found a reason to show a side of me you didn't know
a reason for all that i do, and that reason is you

:: SHOWBIZ BLOG ::

While I was blog-hopping this morning, I chance upon a young local actress' blog and was quite surprised to find it really really sensible. The actress is still young but she has intelligent ways in dealing with issues (and I don't mean showbiz issues, her friends, cellphone problems and lovelife). She posted REAL ISSUES! She wrote several pieces on politics, the Philippines' current economic situation, the exchange rate, poltics and even the environment. After I read her blog, I admit that she changed me --- well, the way I see her that is. Heck, her posts are even more serious than mine 'no! *LOL* So, to you, miss lil actress! Knock 'em dead!
